Description: Bread & Butter plates are quite common. These are the smaller 6″ bread & butters. See separate page for the larger 7″ bread & butters. As with all early Canton plates they are very attractive in their primitive painting. They range in diameter from 5 3/4″ to 6 1/8″ and from 7/8″ to 1″ high. The 3 bread & butter plates pictured are a representative sample. All of these bread & butter plates have glazed bottoms, rain cloud borders and are heavier and sturdier than later light weight rain cloud plates or those with straight-line borders.
